The official residence of Elizabeth II, Queen of England. Buckingham Palace was first occupied by a British Sovereign in 1837. The Palace was originally known as Buckingham House and was subject to extensive interior and exterior redesign during the reigns of George III, George IV and William IV. Some rooms are open to the public and contain many priceless works of art, fine furniture and decoration from the Royal Collection. The State Rooms are open from August 8th to October 5th each year. Booking is essential for the Buckingham Palace tour.
